Amber is multi-disciplinary artist based in the Bay Area who studied sculpture and installation art in college. Her practice has evolved over the years to focus more on public facing forms of art that can have a positive impact and encourage thoughtful dialogue about community and environmental stewardship. She currently engages with a wide range of mediums and art forms including murals, ceramics, street painting and window painting. These forms of art allow her to connect with students as well as create a larger than life image in real time for the public to be able to enjoy while experiencing wonderful connections with spectators, other artists, organizers and business people in her community. 

In college she explored casting with untraditional materials such as paper fiber, leather and medical grade silicone as well as wood working. Being a vet’s daughter and working in the medical field informed her work for many years, drawing insight and comparisons to the body’s amazing abilities yet fragile existence and balance within its surroundings. Her work in recent years has evolved to focus on how social constructs mimic nature, and that the same structures that create harmony, safety, ingenuity, and conditions to thrive in human communities exist in nature as well. She combines images of nature with a surrealist quality to engage the viewer to think about the universality of connection.

In addition to her commissioned murals and street painting, she has spent the last decade giving back to her community by running a ceramic program for a TK-5 elementary school, supporting more than 80 parent volunteers, teaching, running the kiln, as well as developing curriculum and instructional videos for over 500 students. Each spring, she works with the graduating class to create a large scale permanent sculpture using ceramics as a legacy project for them to leave their mark on campus.
